The winning woman wasted no time answering the winning phone call from lottery officials this morning, eager to confirm if her newfound millionaire status was real.
Her 2-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
When an official from The Lott called the winner, her head was still spinning after checking her ticket the night before.
“Oh my god! I’ve been waiting for your call!” she laughed. “I checked my ticket last night and couldn’t believe it! I only slept about three hours after that.
“I called my husband who was driving and I said, ‘You better pull over!’. I can’t repeat what he replied with but just know it was a lot of profanities. It’s a dream come true!”
Despite becoming a newly minted-millionaire overnight, the kind-hearted woman only had one immediate plan for her fortune.
“We’ve already spoken about it and first and foremost, we’re going to buy a house for my parents,” she said.
“They’re renting and it’s been tough for them. Then we’ll have a think about the rest. We’ll probably save it for a rainy day.”
