NEW FIRE STATION AT ORAN PARK OPEN

THE newly built fire station at Oran Park is now operational, providing enhanced emergency response capability to the growing south-west region. 
 
The $6.1M facility boasts state-of-the-art amenities such as separate rest areas for male and female firefighters, designated areas to prevent carcinogen contamination, training and fitness facilities, and two firefighting appliances equipped with specialised HAZMAT capability to respond to dangerous incidents. 
 
The station will house a permanent crew of firefighters operating round-the-clock, providing protection to one of the fastest growing areas of the state. 
 
The opening ceremony was attended by officials including Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience Steph Cooke, Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Paul Baxter, and local representatives. 
 
The station’s environmentally-friendly features, such as a solar-power array and LED lighting, said Commissioner Baxter.

TIGERS TO HOST INDIGENOUS GALA DAY

THANKS to a $58,000 grant from the NSW Government, the Camden Tigers Football Club will host an Indigenous Football Gala Day on July 9. 
 
The event will feature men's and women's football matches between the Camden Tigers Indigenous Football Program team and the Native Canadian Indians Football teams in Southwest Sydney. 
 
Member for Camden, Peter Sidgreaves expressed his pride in the growth of the Camden Tigers Indigenous Football Program and welcomed the event. 
 
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Ben Franklin, praised the event for promoting Aboriginal culture and supporting young aspiring Aboriginal footballers to represent their community at an elite level. 
 
Chair of the Australian Indigenous Football Council, Lawrence Gilbert, expressed his excitement in bringing an international event to Southwest Sydney and thanked the NSW Government for their support.
