CAMPBELLTOWN ATHLETICS CENTRE TEMPORAILY CLOSED
THE Campbelltown Athletics Centre will be temporarily closed over the summer months for significant upgrades to be undertaken on the facility’s track.
The venue will be closed from Monday, December 9 2024 and works are expected to be completed by early March 2025.
The works, which will be undertaken by Polytan Australia, will see the Campbelltown track be re-certified as a World Athletics Class 2 track. The track will include a high-performance surface being installed to allow the venue to host state and national level events.
This year will mark the first time that resurfacing works have been undertaken at the track since 2010.
“Campbelltown is already home to a first-class athletics facility, but these significant track upgrades will further cement our city as a leading place for sport,” Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.
“I look forward to seeing our current and future stars making full use of the upgraded track,” Cr Lound said.
The Campbelltown Athletics Centre was officially opened in June 1999 by Mayor of Campbelltown Paul Sinclair as a training track for international teams ahead of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
The facility has become one of Sydney’s premier athletics tracks, with the venue hosting around 150 school carnivals each year.
The Campbelltown Athletics Centre is also utilised for numerous annual community events including the Sunset Sounds music festival during Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, Campbelltown Christmas Carols and the 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur.

$450,000 IN LOCAL GRANTS OPEN TO CAMDEN APPLICANTS
THE next round of the NSW Government Community Building Partnership program will open to applications in January next year, with $450,000 available to Camden.
The program invests in local infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes while promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
Since 2009, the program has awarded more than $464 million to more than 20,900 projects across the state.
Incorporated not-for-profit community organisations and local councils will be eligible to apply for grants of between $10,000 and $100,000.
Grants can be for building, refurbishing or repairing community infrastructure, or for buying freestanding equipment or vehicles.
Program Guidelines will be available soon at www.nsw.gov.au/cbp
Applications will be accepted online from Tuesday 28 January 2025 and will close at 5pm AEDT, Friday 21 February 2025. Successful organisations will be announced later in 2025.
Sally Quinnell, Member for Camden said: “These grants are instrumental to our community, providing a long lasting and important impact through the projects it helps come to fruition.
“Only our local groups and people know what Camden needs when it comes to local infrastructure. The NSW Government Community Building Partnership program is a great way to kickstart those requirements and ensure our needs as a community are met."
