AGEING Australia and Palliative Care Australia have welcomed a Senate recommendation to remove funding and time restrictions from the Support at Home End-of-Life Pathway. The peak bodies say older Australians with life-limiting illnesses should receive clinically guided care based on individual needs rather than fixed funding periods or life-expectancy predictions. They argue greater flexibility would help more people remain at home, support families and reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and pressure on the health system.
