The playground is situated in Reserve 879, a 4.5-hectare park located at the corner of Beacon Drive and Arilla Close, Schofields.
Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale, OAM said; “We have nearly 800 parks and reserves across our great City, and Council is committed to providing the best possible recreation facilities for our residents.”
The park is now home to a purpose-built playground featuring a junior play hut, a multi-play unit with a slide, swings of all shapes and sizes, a trampoline, a spinner, and a springer.
The area also includes picnic sets and a seat, a garden bed and new pathways providing a wonderful space for the whole community to enjoy.
Mayor Bleasdale recently visited the new playground with Councillor Moninder Singh and met some very enthusiastic young residents.
“In these warmer months, it’s so important that the young – and young at heart – in our community have places to explore, keep fit, and enjoy the great outdoors,” Mayor Bleasdale said.
“I know it’s been hard for many of our residents to stay active during the last year, and for parents with children, it’s been even more of a challenge.
“So, as we head into 2021, I hope families and the wider community can have a bit of fun exploring Blacktown City’s many playgrounds – including the wonderful new playground in Reserve 879.
The new playground and supporting elements were constructed with funding coming from built Section 7.11 developer contributions to Blacktown City Council.
The park is multifunctional as it serves both recreational and drainage purposes, with the drainage infrastructure and overall landscaping works completed earlier in 2020.
