Battery World’s outlet owner, Michael Sookalo believes drivers need a bit of help with their gears as they go off on camping adventures around the backroads of Macarthur region.
When Mr Sookalo took over the Campbelltown outlet on Hollylea Road in Leumeah, he admitted he didn’t know much about four-wheel driving, off-grid battery power, including “the joys people feel with off-grid camping.”
“But since getting involved with the Macarthur District 4WD Club, I am now a self-acclaimed four-wheel drive enthusiast,” Mr Sookalo said.
“I love learning from the members and offering my advice on all things battery related especially this winter in the lead-up to school holidays and peak camping season.”
Mr Sookalo said since joining the 4WD Club, he found “the perfect collaboration to raise awareness on the importance of safety and best practices around car batteries and off-grid portable power sources.”
“It’s about everything you need to power up your four-wheel drive, your caravan or trailer and next off-grid adventure, so the local community can enjoy the winter holidays no matter where they are,” Mr Sookalo said.
Mr Sookalo said he will be more involved in future events with the club to share what he knows about batteries and helpful tips to enthusiasts and beginners alike in powering their off-grid camp sites.
The club’s members consist of experienced drivers and off-road campers and their families and friends.
The club also welcome novice drivers and adventurers keen to know about four-wheel driving and touring activities around the Macarthur region.
“Running a small business involves so much more than just selling product. It’s about going above and beyond for your customers and helping them in times of need,” Mr Sookalo said.
Mr Sookalo said his team at Battery World Campbelltown care about providing service to the local community, empowering them through education and community building and involvement.
“We’re hoping to engage with four-wheel drive lovers across the region to educate them on how to protect and set up your vehicle for the ultimate getaway,” he said.
Battery World Franchise Development Manager Warren Ratliff recently attended the informative Macarthur 4WD Club monthly meeting with Mr Sookalo.
"Michael’s commitment to powering up the local community is truly inspiring,” Mr Ratliff said.
“Our recent meeting was such a hit. It was great to invite members to the store and discuss the links between batteries and four-wheel driving, and how they can be best prepared for the seasons ahead.
“With the winter camping season about to kickstart, this was the perfect time to strengthen our partnership and educate as many people as possible.”
