WOLLONDILLY Shire Council has adopted a new five-year strategy to prevent and manage invasive weeds across the region. The Weeds (Biosecurity) Strategy 2026–2031 sets out how Council, landholders and partner organisations will work together to stop new invasive species, contain high-risk weeds and reduce the impacts of widespread infestations. Mayor Matt Gould said effective weed management was essential to protecting the Shire’s bushland, waterways and agricultural land. The strategy includes monitoring, community education and landholder support, with implementation primarily funded through the NSW Government’s Weed Action Program 2025–2029, alongside existing Council resources and future funding opportunities.
