400 new apprentice, trainee positions
THE NSW Government is expanding its Fresh Start program with funding for 400 additional apprentice, trainee and cadet positions in councils next year, bringing the total to 1,700 new roles over four years. The initiative, which fully funds wages and qualifications, aims to address workforce shortages, particularly in regional NSW, where 65% of recruits are based. More than 1,100 people have already started council careers through the program.
